Lenoir Community College volleyball battled Richard Bland to five sets during a challenging week, while LCC baseball opened its Fall 2026 exhibition schedule.
Washington won the opening two sets 25-19 and 25-16, putting North Lenoir in an early hole. The Hawks responded in the third, fighting through a back-and-forth finish to take the set 26-24 and force a fourth. North Lenoir continued to battle in the fourth, but Washington was able to close out the match with a 25-20 victory. The loss dropped North Lenoir to 10-2 overall and 3-1 in Three Rivers 4A Conference play.
South Lenoir opened East Central 3A/4A Conference play with a strong road performance Wednesday night, sweeping Heide Trask 3-0. The Blue Devils won 25-15, 25-22 and 25-23 to improve to 5-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
North Lenoir jumped ahead 12-0 and carried a 12-6 advantage into halftime, but Ayden-Grifton took control in the second half and scored 24 unanswered points to defeat the Hawks 30-12.
South Lenoir controlled both sides of a three-team cross country meet with East Duplin and Clinton, winning the boys and girls team competitions behind strong performances at the front of each race.
