This week’s varsity football, volleyball, boys soccer and girls tennis schedule for Lenoir, Greene and Jones counties, including Ambleside Preparatory Academy, for September 28–October 4, 2026.
Rosewood showcased its depth at the 2A East Regionals by earning fourth place in the boys standings and eighth in the girls standings behind multiple podium finishes, a regional title from Michael Vaughn in shot put, and standout performances from Thu Min, Jaylin Cooper, and several relay teams.
South Lenoir wrestling completed one of its busiest stretches of the season last week, competing in three events over seven days: the Paul T. Mills Jr. Memorial Invitational, a conference dual at Pamlico County, and the East Central 3A/4A Championship. The Blue Devils logged multiple placers, six total pins in championship competition, and more than 20 individual match wins during the week.
For the first time since August, North Lenoir was pushed to the edge. Down two sets and their 17-match win streak in jeopardy, the Hawks refused to let their story end at home.
North Lenoir volleyball sits at 9-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play, ranked No. 4 in the 4A East RPI and No. 14 in the state after six straight wins.
Jones Senior returns to 11-man football in 2025 under second-year head coach Stephen Perry, leaning on versatile playmaker Cam McKinney and a tough run game while battling depth and experience challenges in a rebuilding year.
