North Lenoir Gets Revenge

LAGRANGE, N.C. – After suffering a tough 8-1 loss to North Johnston earlier this month, the North Lenoir Hawks stepped onto the court today with redemption on their minds. The Hawks, holding a 5-3 record, hosted the 6-3 North Johnston team in a thrilling tennis rematch, showcasing the determination and resilience of both sides.

In the first singles match, North Johnston's senior Chance Davis defeated North Lenoir's junior Austin Williams with a tight 6-4, 7-5 victory. The second singles match saw North Johnston's sophomore Ben Cuddington triumph over North Lenoir's freshman Casey Alston with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win.

The tide began to turn in favor of the Hawks during the third singles match, with senior Josh Hardy securing a hard-fought victory over North Johnston's senior Avery Davis, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). Continuing the momentum, North Lenoir's sophomore Zachary Yarus and freshman Maddox Smith both emerged victorious in their respective singles matches, defeating North Johnston's junior Ethan Evans and senior Cadyn Lucas.

The Hawks' winning streak continued as senior Jared Carlyle sealed a 6-3, 6-3 win over North Johnston's senior Sam Evans in the sixth singles match. In doubles play, North Johnston managed to claim victory in the first and second doubles matches, while North Lenoir's duo of Jared Carlyle and Maddox Smith secured an 8-4 win in the third doubles match.

Reflecting on his team's performance, North Lenoir coach Scott Alston said, "With the last match vs North Johnston on their minds, our guys came out today with a fire. Our 3-6 seeds really turned the tide today and closed out matches that we gave up last time we played NJ!"

With this exciting rematch behind them, the North Lenoir Hawks now turn their attention to their next challenge, as they prepare to face off against the Rosewood tennis team today.
