Frink Clinches Win with Stellar Pitching and Defense

Frink Middle School’s victory on the diamond was a textbook example of the adage “defense wins games,” with a standout pitching performance and airtight fielding serving as the cornerstone of their 7-1 win over Jones Middle.

Head Coach Nathan Smith praised the efforts of his pitchers. “Great pitching and lockdown defense were the keys to our victory today,” said Smith. His commendations were well-earned. Starter Hunter Southerland set the tone with a four-inning, eight-strikeout show. Daniel Boyette closed the deal, facing six batters and retiring each one, embellishing the pitching stats with four more strikeouts.

While the bats may have taken time to warm up, once they did, the hits kept coming. A rally in the later innings was crucial to cementing the lead and showcasing the depth of the team’s batting lineup.

Smith had special words for his pitchers: “Atta boys to Hunter Southerland and Daniel Boyette for throwing an outstanding game on the bump.”
