Rocky Mount shuts out Saints, 42–0
Southern Wayne was held scoreless for the first time this season in a 42–0 home loss to Rocky Mount on Oct. 2. The Saints dropped to 3–4 overall and 0–3 in the Big East, their third consecutive defeat after a three-game winning streak.
Rocky Mount’s leading passer was credited with four completions in five attempts for 202 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Its leading listed rusher added 78 yards and a touchdown on five carries, while the receiving leaders included a 90-yard touchdown catch. Southern Wayne individual statistics were not available in the reviewed game summary.
The result left Southern Wayne with 20 points scored and 103 allowed in its first three conference games. That contrasts with a 102–20 scoring advantage during the Saints’ earlier wins over Union, Goldsboro and Smithfield-Selma. The remaining schedule begins with road games at Northern Nash on Oct. 9 and Fike on Oct. 16.

Southern Wayne fell 40–6 at Hunt on Sept. 25, moving to 3–3 overall and 0–2 in Big East play. The loss followed a seven-point defeat against Southern Nash and left the Saints looking to recover from consecutive conference setbacks.
Yakir Williams accounted for substantial production in both phases of the offense: 88 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries, plus five catches for 77 yards. Those figures total 165 rushing and receiving yards. Mark Correll completed five of 10 passes for 77 yards and threw two interceptions.
Hunt’s leading passer and rusher was the same player, whose reported line included 102 passing yards and two touchdown passes alongside 165 rushing yards and another score. Southern Wayne had scored 102 points during its three-game winning streak but totaled 20 in its first two league games. A home meeting with Rocky Mount followed on Oct. 2.

Southern Nash ends Saints’ winning streak in 21–14 decision
Southern Wayne’s three-game winning streak ended with a 21–14 home loss to Southern Nash on Sept. 18. The Saints fell to 3–2 overall and 0–1 in the Big East after their closest game of the season to that point.
Mark Correll contributed both through the air and on the ground. He completed three of 10 passes for 43 yards and a touchdown, with one interception, and rushed 12 times for 47 yards and another score. Ivory Moore was credited with a 22-yard touchdown reception. Southern Nash’s leading rusher produced 140 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.
The Saints entered after outscoring their previous three opponents 102–20, but their 14 points against the Firebirds were their lowest total since opening night. The seven-point result began a difficult league stretch, with a Sept. 25 visit to Hunt next on the schedule. Quarter-by-quarter scoring was not reported.

Southern Wayne carried its winning streak onto the road Sept. 11, shutting out Smithfield-Selma 26–0. The Saints improved to 3–1 and completed a three-game run in which they outscored Union, Goldsboro and Smithfield-Selma 102–20.
Monte Kornegay led the reported rushing statistics with 63 yards on 13 carries. Mark Correll completed two of five passes for 41 yards and a touchdown, with one interception. Yakir Williams supplied a 40-yard touchdown reception, accounting for nearly all of Southern Wayne’s listed passing yardage.
The shutout was Southern Wayne’s first of the season. Smithfield-Selma’s reported passing line included three interceptions and no touchdown passes, while its leading listed rusher managed 13 yards. The Saints had allowed just six points across their two most recent games as they prepared to begin Big East play at home against Southern Nash on Sept. 18.

Southern Wayne reached 50 points for the first time in its 2026 schedule, defeating visiting Goldsboro 50–6 on Sept. 4. A second consecutive victory moved the Saints to 2–1 and gave them a combined 76–20 scoring advantage across their first two home games.
Jamarrii Boykin rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on six carries, an average of more than 15 yards per attempt. Mark Correll’s reported passing line was one completion in three attempts for 45 yards and a touchdown. Cam Mckinney was credited with that 45-yard scoring reception.
The 44-point margin was a substantial increase from the previous week’s 26–14 win over Union. Southern Wayne held Goldsboro to six points, the Saints’ fewest allowed in their first three games, before turning to a Sept. 11 road trip to Smithfield-Selma. The available individual statistics do not account for every Saints score.

Southern Wayne earned its first win of the season with a 26–14 home victory over Union on Aug. 27. The Saints evened their record at 1–1, answering a 49–6 opening loss at James Kenan with a 12-point victory in Dudley.
Jymerion Lee carried 16 times for 145 yards and a touchdown, averaging just over nine yards per attempt. Mark Correll completed two of six passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. Jamarrii Boykin was credited with two receptions for 35 yards in the reported receiving statistics.
Union also found production on the ground, with its leading rusher credited with 155 yards on 20 carries. The Saints nevertheless limited the Spartans to 14 points, 35 fewer than Southern Wayne allowed in its opener. The victory began a stretch of consecutive home games, with Goldsboro next on Sept. 4.
