WHEAT SWAMP—After a long four-day wait, North Lenoir finally hosted CB Aycock on Tuesday, only to suffer a crushing 56-6 defeat. The loss drops the Hawks to 0-3 for the season, while CB Aycock improves to 3-0.

CB Aycock’s ground game was unstoppable, racking up 308 rushing yards in the first half alone and finishing the game with a total of 385 team rushing yards. Zimere McClarin led the Falcons with three touchdowns, including a 73-yard rushing score, a 4-yard rushing TD, and a 17-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. Ricky Elliott also stood out, most notably with a 96-yard rushing touchdown that broke the game wide open.

The Falcons’ defense was equally impressive, swarming the Hawks all night and forcing multiple fumbles and blocking a punt to return for a touchdown. Four of CB Aycock’s touchdowns came on the defensive side of the ball.

Despite the loss, Malik Fuller had a standout performance for North Lenoir, finishing with 16 carries for 164 yards and the Hawks’ lone touchdown. MJ Pippin contributed with 9 rushes for 39 yards.

“We got to take care of the body Thursday, resting up the guys that took a lot of snaps,” said North Lenoir coach Larry Dale, as the team prepares to travel and face East Carteret in less than 72 hours.

In a humbling moment for this reporter, my pick for North Lenoir to win proved obviously incorrect. Hats off to CB Aycock for an outstanding performance. Men lie, women lie, but numbers don’t…
