Eastern Wayne opened the season with a 77-0 shutout of rival Goldsboro, extending its winning streak in the series. The Warriors led 39-0 after the first quarter and got standout performances from Auree Best, Brandon Lark and their defense.
Wayne County’s NC Elite Sprinters turned heads at the Adidas Outdoor Nationals, producing seven Adidas All-Americans while competing against more than 8,000 athletes from around the world. The growing program also celebrated multiple personal records, relay podium finishes and several collegiate scholarship opportunities.
Eastern Wayne dominated the NCHSAA 4A East Regional with boys and girls team championships while North Lenoir’s Cassidee Fraser captured regional titles in both the 100- and 200-meter dash events.
Reed delivered a dominant and defining performance in the circle, going the distance while allowing seven hits and five runs—none earned—and striking out 20 without issuing a walk. She consistently controlled the tempo, working out of traffic and shutting down rallies with swing-and-miss stuff when it mattered most.
