South Lenoir Stumbles to Croatan

NEWPORT— In an away game against Croatan, the South Lenoir girls’ basketball team experienced a hard-fought battle, eventually falling short 42-37. Despite leading at halftime, challenges in the latter half of the game proved costly for the Lady Blue Devils.
Strong Start, Challenging Finish
South Lenoir started strongly, holding a 22-13 lead at halftime. However, the second half saw a shift in momentum. Foul troubles significantly impacted the team, with Katherine Thompson, Gracie Tyndall, and Lexy Heath fouling out. The injury of point guard Alexus Haddock in the fourth quarter further complicated matters for South Lenoir.
Croatan’s Late Surge
Taking advantage of the Lady Blue Devils’ diminished lineup, Croatan mounted a comeback, securing the lead with three minutes remaining and holding onto it until the end.
