South Lenoir’s Reese Cash surpasses 1,000 career kills

DEEP RUN - South Lenoir senior Reese Cash has surpassed 1,000 career kills, a milestone that reflects four seasons of production and dedication for the Blue Devils.
The 5-foot-10 outside hitter, who earned North Carolina Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region honors after her junior season, has been a key part of South Lenoir’s attack. In a three-set victory over Heide Trask on Sept. 10, Cash recorded nine kills and five service aces.
“She’s worked extremely hard all four years on varsity to reach this milestone,” South Lenoir head coach Madison Harvey said. “She’s never complacent. She’s always striving to not only make herself better, but the teammates around her.”
Harvey said Cash’s contributions go well beyond what shows up on a stat sheet.
“She is one of the best teammates and leaders,” Harvey said. “She takes care of things out side of volleyball, like helping with cleaning and uniforms. She’s just a great person!”
Cash and the ninth-seeded Blue Devils begin the NCHSAA 3A East playoffs Saturday, Oct. 17, at home against No. 24 Northwood. The winner advances to face No. 8 Farmville Central in the second round Tuesday, Oct. 20.
