Kamari Hall wins the NCHSAA Heart of a Champion Award

Greene Central High School senior Kamari Hall, a standout in his community and on the sports field, has been bestowed with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) Heart of a Champion Award. The award recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated superior citizenship, sportsmanship, and participation in at least one varsity sport, while maintaining an ejection-free record throughout the year.

Renowned as the Neuse News Sports' Defensive Player of the Year, Hall, known as "Hulk" to his head football coach Jay Wilson, has left an indelible mark during his tenure at Greene Central. A versatile defensive lineman, Hall has excelled in the roles of both defensive end and defensive tackle.

Hall's leadership, as the captain of the Rams, played a crucial role in achieving a 10-2 record for the team. His steadfast spirit was instrumental in the Rams' historical 8-0 start, a considerable improvement from the challenging 1-6 record in his sophomore year and a 4-7 record in his junior year.

In his final year, Hall posted notable stats, averaging 8.4 tackles per game, with three sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception returned for a touchdown. Over his high school career, Hall accumulated 206 tackles, six sacks, and one interception.

In addition to his prowess on the field, Hall is also a role model off it. A diligent student, Hall has maintained a 3.8 GPA, setting a high standard in the classroom, weight room, and on the field. "Kamari has set the standard for them in so many ways," said Hall's mother, Shanika Webb. "He is so passionate about everything he sets his mind to, that it automatically becomes a routine pattern. They look up to their big brother, and whatever he does, they want to do too. They naturally fall in line."

His father, Tony Hall, expressed immense pride in his son's achievements, stating, "I am super proud. As a father, you couldn't ask for anything else. The young man took care of things like he was supposed to do. He took care of business on and off the court, on and off the field, and in the classroom. I thank God."

Kamari Hall's remarkable journey and dedication to sports and academics at Greene Central High School has undeniably set a high standard for the younger athletes who will follow in his footsteps.
