Kinston Wingmen Snap Losing Streak with 7-5 Victory Over Lexington Flying Pigs

KINSTON, N.C. — The Kinston Wingmen broke a five-game losing streak on Sunday, securing a 7-5 victory over the Lexington Flying Pigs. Despite a four-run surge by the Flying Pigs in the fifth inning, the Wingmen held their ground and took the lead for good.
The Wingmen's took control in the fifth inning when Carter Starkweather singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Bryce Stanton grounded out, bringing in another run, and Tyler Parks singled on the first pitch of his at-bat, scoring the third run of the inning.
On the mound, Jackson Gause earned the win for the Wingmen, allowing three hits and one run over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Dawson Ables provided solid relief, throwing two innings and recording the last six outs to earn the save.
Lexington's pitcher, Jarred Lindholm, allowed five hits and six runs over four innings, striking out six. Ethan Yarbrough and James Courshon entered the game as relief, throwing three and one innings, respectively.
Richard Nobles started the game for the Wingmen, allowing three hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking one.
Offensively, the Wingmen were on point, racking up ten hits. Both Parks and Starkweather managed multiple hits, leading the team.
Despite tallying nine hits on the day, the Flying Pigs couldn't capitalize on their opportunities. Carson Willoughby, Kasey Ross, and Mason Steel all collected multiple hits for Lexington, but the team couldn't overcome the Wingmen's fifth-inning surge.
The victory brings a much-needed boost to the Wingmen, who are looking to regain their early-season momentum. With a strong roster and a determined spirit, the team is ready to take on their next challenge in the Old North State League.
