South Lenoir JV Falls to Wallace-Rose Hill

DEEP RUN— Despite a competitive first half, the South Lenoir Junior Varsity Blue Devils (2-3) fell to the Wallace-Rose Hill Junior Varsity Bulldogs 44-16 on Thursday night, allowing 30 unanswered points after halftime.

Sophomore quarterback Jackson Owens led the Blue Devils' first-half charge, completing 8 of 19 passes for 109 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown pass.

Sophomore receiver Amare Walker was Owens' primary target, tallying 81 receiving yards on three catches, 69 of which came in the first half. South Lenoir entered halftime down by just eight points, 14-6.

The second half, however, painted a different picture. South Lenoir's offense stalled, amassing only 33 total yards, while the defense struggled to contain the surging Bulldogs.

Head Coach Bradon Battle summarized the second-half difficulties, stating, "First half we wrapped up, [but] came out in the second half and we forgot how to tackle and wrap up."

The loss serves as a learning experience for the young Blue Devils team, who will aim to regroup and refocus on fundamentals as they navigate the remainder of the season.
