Kinston JV Falls Short to East Duplin

Kinston Junior Varsity fell short in their second conference matchup against East Duplin from Beulaville, losing 34-14 on Thursday night.

The game started on a promising note for the Vikings. On the first play, quarterback Keyshawn Herring ran for 58 yards on a keeper, setting the stage for an opening drive touchdown. The Vikings led 8-0 within minutes.

However, the momentum shifted abruptly. Two crucial turnovers — a fumble recovered by East Duplin and an interception — allowed East Duplin to capitalize and finish the first half up 20-8.

The Vikings made a resurgence after halftime, forcing a three-and-out and getting the ball back on a punt. Herring connected on a 10-yard fade to Emmanuel Sutton to narrow the deficit to 20-14.

Despite their efforts, the Vikings ultimately fell short, with the final score reading 34-14 in favor of East Duplin.

" I think that we learned this conference is very physical, and [we] hope they come to play and match the intensity," said Coach Corey Bryant.
