LA GRANGE— In their first football game of the season on Tuesday, Frink Middle School rebounded from a tough previous season by defeating Woodington Middle School 22-0 in a non-conference matchup.
Standout players on offense for Frink included Donovan Ingram, who scored two touchdowns, and Bryson James, who added another. Amare Farrow also turned in a strong performance on the ground. First-year quarterback Daniel Boyette excelled in leading the offense, benefiting from an offensive line that executed its assignments flawlessly to maintain a potent ground game.
On the defensive side, the entire unit stood out by effectively shutting down Woodington's passing game. Donovan Ingram and Amare Farrow were particularly impactful, registering multiple tackles and tackles for loss.
Coach Nathan Smith expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, emphasizing the team's conditioning and readiness to play a full four quarters.
"We have worked really hard on making sure that the guys are conditioned and ready to go. We have multiple players that are playing on both sides of the ball, and I am proud that they were able to finish out the game strong," Smith said.
However, he also pointed out the need to address penalties that cost them valuable yardage.
"We still have to clean up some of the penalties that cost us a lot of yards throughout the game. I have a great group of boys, and I am eager to see what the rest of the season holds for them."
Frink Middle School will look to carry this momentum into their next game on October 5, when they travel to Jones County to face Jones Middle School in their first conference matchup of the season.
