Patriots survive late push from Heat for season ending win
The Arendell Parrott Academy Patriots hosted the Liberty Christian Heat on Friday evening. This was the last regular season game for the Patriots and the second consecutive win for Coach Clay Harrell’s team. The Patriots beat the Heat with a final score of 59-52.
Coach Harrell was ecstatic with his team's performance as they finished the season with an overall record of 5-16. The consecutive wins to end the season are also how the Patriots started off their season. “We started the season with a two-game win streak, and we finished it with a two-game winning streak. Everything in the middle is a journey of peaks and valleys,” Coach Harrell said after the win. Harrell also added, “We are made of our scars. I think our scars found a way to push us through tonight.”
The Patriots were led in scoring by Senior and Foreign Exchange Student, Giorgio Parravicini. Parravicini, who is from Italy, scored 24 points in the win. Parravicini has averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds this season and was clearly the best player for either team on the court tonight. “Since I was a kid, I’ve always dreamed of playing here in America. Now that I’ve been playing here, it’s been fantastic,” Parravicini said.
The Patriots will look to build on their momentum in the Conference Tournament next week. Their opponent is TBD, but we know that their opening game will be on the road and will be Tuesday, 2/6/24.
