North Lenoir Tennis Falls in The Third Round

The North Lenoir Boys, seeded #5 and boasting a 13-6 record for the season, came up against a strong Seaforth team in the third round of the NCHSAA 2A dual championships. Seaforth, the #1 seed with an impressive 16-1 record for the season, proved to be a formidable opponent, with the match ending in a 7-2 win for them.

Despite the defeat, North Lenoir demonstrated strong resistance, especially from Maddox Smith and Jared Carlyle in the singles. Walker Magnirat and Felton Burleigh secured victories for Seaforth, defeating Austin Williams and Casey Alston respectively. Owen Storm overcame Josh Hardy, and Henry Mcfall triumphed over Zach Yarus. For North Lenoir, Maddox Smith defeated Matthew Bowser, and Jared Carlyle emerged victorious over Wakeland Branz.

In the doubles, Seaforth maintained their dominance with wins from pairs Magnirat/Burleigh, Strom/ Bowser, and McFall/Branz.

Despite the loss, North Lenoir demonstrated fight and heart. Head Coach Scott Alston commended his team, stating, "We hung close to the top seed in the East, pushing them into the doubles round! Our five and six seeds came through in singles, and we were two points away from winning our number two singles. This group never gave up and went to the third round for the third time in NL tennis' 27-year history.”
