Hawks Win Lenoir County Cheer Competition, Frink Middle School Shines
The annual Lenoir County Fair Cheerleading Competition, a much-anticipated event in the local sports calendar, did not disappoint as it showcased the best cheerleading talent from area schools. The event, held at the Lenoir County Fairgrounds, drew a crowd of over 2,000 spectators and featured high school and middle school teams vying for top honors.
Middle School Mayhem
In the middle school division, the competition was nothing short of fierce. Rochelle Middle School finished in fourth place, showing great promise for the future. Contentnea Savannah (CSS) took the third-place spot, impressing the judges with their intricate routines. Woodington Middle School secured second place, missing the top spot but leaving a lasting impression.
However, the night belonged to Frink Middle School, who not only clinched the first place in the middle school category but also took home the award for the best overall high scorer across all teams, a shocking feat for a middle school team.
High School Showdown
On the high school level, East Duplin finished in third place, showcasing their skill and dedication. South Lenoir, always a strong contender, took second place, narrowly missing the top spot.
But it was North Lenoir that stole the show, taking first place and earning the prestigious Skip Waters Travel Award. This marks the fifth consecutive year that North Lenoir has dominated the competition, solidifying their reputation as the team to beat in Lenoir County.
A Night to Remember
The event was not just a competition; it was a celebration of local talent and community spirit. With over 2,000 people in attendance, the Lenoir County Fairgrounds was buzzing with energy and excitement.
“It’s incredible to see the community come together to support these young athletes,” said Trey Scott, Chief Correspondent for Neuse News Sports. “The level of talent and dedication we saw tonight is a testament to the quality of our local schools and sports programs.”
Looking Ahead
As North Lenoir celebrates another victory and Frink Middle School enjoys their surprising but well-deserved accolades, all teams will undoubtedly be back next year, hungrier and more prepared than ever. Until then, the 2023 Lenoir County Fair Cheerleading Competition will be remembered as a night of high-flying stunts, intricate routines, and unforgettable performances.
