Greene County Rams Dominates Hope Middle 14-2

The Greene County Middle School Rams delivered a stunning 14-2 win against the Hope Mustangs, propelling their season record to an impressive 2-0. The Rams demonstrated some lockdown defense in their strategy, keeping errors to a minimum and disallowing any significant advantage to the historically strong baseball program of the Mustangs.

Rams head coach Jacob Baird highlighted the defensive prowess as the cornerstone of the victory. "It started with defense, you know we kept the mistakes to a minimum," he remarked, acknowledging the disciplined approach that set the stage for the team's performance.

Pitching was a standout aspect of the game, with Logan Burress and Sutton Harris delivering powerful performances that kept the Mustangs' hitters in check.

“We had some strong pitching from Logan and Sutton,” coach Baird said.

Harris was equally effective at the plate, contributing three hits that ignited the Rams' offense.

The offensive game for the Rams gradually picked up momentum after a slow start. Coach Baird praised his team's tenacity, "We started off slow, but we never gave up, got the bats going and strung together a few big innings." This persistence paid off as the Rams capitalized on their opportunities, resulting in a series of productive innings that put the game out of reach for the Mustangs.

The depth of the Rams' lineup was on full display, with Trey Eatmon and Luke Wade making crucial contributions to the team's offensive surge. The team also showcased excellent plate discipline, drawing 13 walks throughout the game. This patience at the plate, combined with aggressive base running, such as Sutton Harris stealing two bases, demonstrated a well-rounded and dynamic offensive strategy.

Coach Baird's pride in his team was palpable as he reflected on the game's outcome. "I’m just real proud of the team effort all the guys put in and happy with the result," he stated. His commendation not only highlights individual performances but also underscores the collective effort that characterized the Rams' approach to the game.
