Hawks Soar Over Nash Central

The North Lenoir Hawks battled with Nash Central in the swamp. The Hawks controlled the game and secured the win with a 4-2 victory.

Early in the game, Blake Crawford set the stage with a two-run home run after sizing up Nash Central's pitcher, who despite settling in well, was initially outmaneuvered by the Hawks' hitters. Crawford finished the game with impressive stats: two hits in three at-bats, including the home run, and two runs batted in, underscoring his pivotal role in the offensive lineup. Mason Sasser went 2-3 at the plate.

Coach Sherrer was enthusiastic about his team's performance, saying, "We came out swinging the bats really well and got up on them early. The pitching held us in the game; Garrett did a great job minimizing big situations. Eli came in and did his job, and Mason came in and slammed the door."

Sherrer also had high praise for Nash Central’s pitcher, despite his team's success against him. "Once their pitcher started to settle in, he threw it really well. That's a good arm over there and a good ball club. I am really proud of my guys for finishing a seven-inning ball game with them."

Reflecting on his critical at-bat, Crawford said, "He just threw me two fastballs; the first one he just threw by me, so I was like, it's a fastball approach. He then threw it up and away, and I just pulled on it, and it was out of here."

Pitcher Eli Kearney also commented on his relief performance, bringing an air of readiness to the mound, "I felt great. I am ready to get back into it."

This victory extends North Lenoir's unbeaten streak against Nash Central to 3-0 all-time, with previous wins in 2011 and 2018. The team's next contest against Southwest Onslow is eagerly anticipated as the Hawks look to continue their strong start to the season. With a combination of powerful hitting, strategic pitching, and the cohesive team spirit echoed in their coach's and players' remarks, North Lenoir stands out as a legit force on the diamond.
