Greene Central Men's Tennis Secures Decisive 7-2 Victory Over Ayden-Grifton
AYDEN, N.C. — The Greene Central men's tennis team (8-5) traveled to Ayden-Grifton High School (4-5) yesterday, securing a convincing 7-2 victory against the Chargers. The win puts the Rams in the lead of the Eastern Plains Conference (EPC) standings.
GC coach Tim Medlin praised his young team's performance and acknowledged the challenges faced in the season thus far.
"Our young team has scraped and clawed to an 8-5 record and a lead in the EPC standings," he said. "It's good to secure a solid 7-2 win over a senior-laden team like Ayden-Grifton."
Medlin highlighted the performance of freshman Sam Avent, who was named the match MVP.
"Sam was playing with the type of controlled aggression we've been working on," Medlin said, expressing optimism for the team's future. "I'm hoping our challenging schedule will pay dividends, and we can begin peaking at playoff time."
The Rams will face a crucial match against Washington next week, which could further cement their position in the conference.
