The Story:

Football season is here, but South Lenoir is still playing catch-up. The Blue Devils hired their new head coach, Brandon Proctor, on August 12, 2024—just 11 days before the first home game. That’s 11 days to install a new offense, 11 days to get to know each other, and 11 days to absorb a new football culture. I'm not saying it's impossible, but keep in mind the first half of the season might be a challenge.

I do believe there's talent in Deep Run. Former head coach Will Harrell relied heavily on underclassmen over the past couple of seasons, and now it’s time for some of those players to step up as leaders and playmakers. Returning sophomore running back Kenarious Bey is a bright spot for the Blue Devils' offense, with the potential to be a high-impact player.

I'm excited to see the new system and culture Coach Proctor brings to Deep Run. It’s going to be an uphill battle for the Blue Devils in the East Central Conference, but first up is Week 1 against North Johnston at South Lenoir. This game should be interesting due to the unknowns surrounding the Blue Devils. Game one will serve as a good measuring stick against a respectable North Johnston squad.
