The Story:
A change was needed for Jones Senior football, leading the Trojans to transition from 11-man to 8-man football. The shift was driven by low team numbers, which resulted in overuse of players and struggles to compete effectively for all four quarters on Friday nights. Moving to 8-man football lowers the competition level, making it more appropriate for Jones Senior, a school with a smaller student population.
This season holds promise for the Trojans. Coach Stephen Perry has a clear understanding of his goals, mission, and vision. Perry aims to restore respectability to the Jones Senior football program, though it will be a process. With a new format, offense, players, and positions, there’s a lot to learn about this team in Week 1. Fortunately for the Trojans, their first opponent went 0-10 last season.
