Greene Central Dominates Washington on Senior Night

SNOW HILL, N.C. — Greene Central celebrated Senior Night in dominant fashion, rolling past Washington 48-25 to improve to 9-9 on the season. The Rams honored their lone senior, Sykiah Lancaster, who has been a key leader this season, averaging 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, while leading the team with 25 made three-pointers. Her production has significantly improved from last season, where she averaged 7 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.5 steals per game.

The game started as a defensive battle, with Washington holding a 5-4 lead after the first quarter, but Greene Central quickly took control. The Rams exploded for a 35-5 run, carrying a commanding 39-10 lead by the end of the third quarter. From there, they never looked back, suffocating Washington with their defensive intensity and dominance in the paint.

Junior An’Nyshea Wooten led the way with a monster performance, posting 24 points and 21 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards. Jayce Russell matched that rebounding total with 21 boards (11 offensive) and added 13 points, showcasing an unusual but dominant stat line. Lancaster contributed 7 points and 3 assists in her final home game.

Greene Central currently sits in fifth place in the competitive 2A Eastern Plains Conference, trailing Farmville Central and North Pitt by just half a game. With two critical road games remaining—West Craven (Feb. 7) and Farmville Central (Feb. 11)—the Rams have a strong opportunity to climb into third place. They boast a 4-2 road record this season and will look to finish strong heading into the postseason.
