Hunter Coulombe of the North Lenoir Hawks (6-2, 3-1) dominated at the plate tonight as they won 32-1 over the Kinston Vikings (0-8, 0-5). He had four at-bats, four RBIs, two singles, and three runs.
“I believe we made solid contact with the ball, and we had some solid at-bats.” Jackson Massey of the Hawks said, “We also had some really solid base running when we put the ball in play.”
Jacob Suggs gave the North Lenoir Hawks a significant offensive boost with his three at-bats, five runs, two singles, and one RBI. Blake Crawford add another dinger to his seasonal resume, hitting his third homer of the season.
“We are putting the ball in play, and I’m really proud of our approach at the plate,” said Massey.
The Hawks took advantage of an error to score six runs in the first inning. North Lenoir never trailed in the game; they were in charge throughout the whole contest.
The defense didn’t commit a single error as the North Lenoir Hawks scored 16 runs in the second inning.
The Hawks will have a big game against South Lenoir (5-3, 3-1) this Friday. Massey respects the Blue Devils but will treat this game with the same respect as just another game.
“We will practice as we would on any other day before facing another significant conference foe,” Massey said. “We won’t attempt to make it more significant than it is; instead, we’ll be looking at a challenging game on Friday.”
