Bethel Christian Academy Cancels Football Season Due To Low Participation

KINSTON, NC– Bethel Christian Academy’s football program faces another hiatus this upcoming season due to limited participation.

The Trojans had a promising 2021-22 season with a 5-3 record. However, they did not field a team in the 2022-23 season. In the 2023-24 season, Bethel brought back football but struggled with a late start and minimal depth, finishing with an 0-6 record.

This year, Bethel has been forced to cancel the football season again after experiencing low participation during the summer.

Athletic Director Ashley Stroud commented on the situation, stating, “Last season, we started with limited numbers, and they eventually dropped game by game. We played the last game with 8 players. We just didn’t have enough interest, so we decided to take a year off to see if we can build the interest back up for next year.”

The Trojans hopes to rebuild interest and participation to bring back the football program in the future. For now, the focus will be on encouraging more students to join and support the team.
