Lady Hawks secure their first win of the season

North Lenoir’s volleyball team kicked off the season with a decisive victory over SouthWest Edgecombe, winning in straight sets at home on Tuesday. The Hawks took the match 3-0, with set scores of 25-10, 25-21, and 25-6.
This win marks North Lenoir’s third straight victory over SouthWest Edgecombe, improving their record to 7-3 against SWE in the past 10 matchups. The Hawks, who finished last season with an impressive 18-6 record, are looking to build on that success.
Coach Heather Carson was pleased with the performance but acknowledged areas for improvement. “It was a good game for us. We saw some stuff we need to work on, we need to work on talking more and communicating, but it was good to get the win,” she said.
Carson also commented on the team’s summer workouts, noting that the efforts were good but the numbers were not as high as usual. “We have been trying to flip things and put things together, but we are going to figure it out,” she added.
As for the team’s expectations for the season, Carson was clear: “I want us to be competitive and compete. Our conference is tough, and I want to be up there at the top and just do the best we can.”
The Hawks’ strong start sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting season in a challenging conference. With a focus on communication and competitiveness, North Lenoir is poised to be a top contender.
