Greene County Middle Triumphs Over Ayden Middle in Football

In a testament to relentless training and raw talent blossoming on the field, Greene County Middle School (GC) secured a victory against Ayden Middle School with a score of 14-8 on their home ground in Snow Hill. This win propels GC to a 2-0 standing in the conference and an unblemished 4-0 on the season.

Head Coach Jayme Tilley extolled the team’s remarkable progress, especially considering that many players had not previously engaged in football. Their commitment, exhibited since open workouts in July, shone brightly in the match-up against Ayden Middle. “They are doing really well,” Tilley remarked, adding that their diligent prep work was manifest on the field.

Among the standout players, Kaz Farrior was lauded by Coach Tilley as an “absolute man child,” praising his potential to evolve into an outstanding running back for Greene County. His prowess was evident with a rushing touchdown and an interception, marking his fourth interception of the season.

The synergy between Logan Burress and Sy Harris was also a highlight of the game. Both in their debut football year, the duo connected on a deep ball in the second play, an execution Coach Tilley described as a perfect game opener. Burress later showcased his versatility with a 30-yard pass to Harris, setting up a one-yard quarterback sneak by Burress himself.

Looking ahead, GC is slated to face CM Epps and Chicod in away games. Should they clinch both games, a spot in the conference championship game awaits. The prospects seem bright, given the exemplary performance and the promising talents like Farrior and Burress steering the team forward.
