Wayne County’s NC Elite Sprinters turned heads at the Adidas Outdoor Nationals, producing seven Adidas All-Americans while competing against more than 8,000 athletes from around the world. The growing program also celebrated multiple personal records, relay podium finishes and several collegiate scholarship opportunities.
Kinston, Greene Central, Goldsboro, South Lenoir and Spring Creek athletes combined for multiple regional titles, relay victories and top-three finishes during a strong showing at the 3A East Regional Track & Field Championships.
Croatan swept the 5A East Regional team championships while C.B. Aycock and Southern Wayne highlighted the meet locally with four individual regional titles combined.
Rosewood showcased its depth at the 2A East Regionals by earning fourth place in the boys standings and eighth in the girls standings behind multiple podium finishes, a regional title from Michael Vaughn in shot put, and standout performances from Thu Min, Jaylin Cooper, and several relay teams.
Eastern Wayne dominated the NCHSAA 4A East Regional with boys and girls team championships while North Lenoir’s Cassidee Fraser captured regional titles in both the 100- and 200-meter dash events.
Woodington Middle School turned in a dominant showing at the Lenoir County Middle School Conference Track and Field Championships on April 20 at South Lenoir High School, capturing both the boys and girls team titles against a field that included Rochelle Middle, Contentnea-Savannah, and E.B. Frink.
Deitrich Williams captured state championships in the high jump (6-6) and triple jump (44-0.5), Keith Neal finished second in the shot put (45-6.5), Darryl Parham placed third in the 55-meter hurdles (7.95), and Kinston’s girls added a runner-up finish in the 4×200 relay (1:51.33) as the Vikings’ boys secured a fifth-place team finish at the NCHSAA 3A Indoor State Championships.
Greene Central multi-sport standout Deitrich “DJ” Williams captured gold in the Boys National Elite High Jump at the 2025 Adidas Outdoor Nationals, clearing 6’6.74″ without a single scratch. Representing Revelation Peak Performance Track Club under veteran coach Reese Owens, Williams showcased the focus, power, and polish of a national champion. Now, with the USATF Region 3 Junior Olympics up next, he’s just one meet away from the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Savannah. A high flyer on the rise, Williams continues to prove he’s one of the elite youth athletes in the country—on the track, in the gym, and under the lights.
Greene Central led all area teams with a fourth-place finish at the 2A East Regional Championships, followed by Kinston in fifth, as DJ Williams broke a school record in the high jump (6’8), Cassidee Fraser of North Lenoir won the 100 and 200 meters, and Kinston’s Okie Edwards captured the 400-meter title.
The Rams’ boys squad finished second overall with 112.5 points, trailing only Farmville Central’s dominant 205.5-point total. On the girls’ side, Greene Central placed seventh with nine points, but showed promise in several individual events, especially in the field.
