South Lenoir’s Lucas West commits to Guilford College

DEEP RUN— Lucas West, a football player for the South Lenoir Blue Devils, signed with Guilford College. West led the Blue Devils with 76 tackles, 5 interceptions, one of which was a pick-6, and 3 pass breakups.

“The coaching staff made me feel real comfortable,” West Said. “It feels fantastic committing to Guilford College.”

West was a captain of the defense and recorded three interceptions in one game. The defender had a couple of colleges looking his way but Guilford won him over. 

“I received a few offers,” West said. “Guilford showed the greatest interest in me, which made the decision to commit to playing football for Guilford for the next four years real easy.”

He was a defensive back for South Lenoir High School for four years. He will now play football for Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“My father helped me through the entire process and had always wanted me to play college football,” West said with a smile.
