Woodington finishes undefeated in Soccer, Softball and Baseball
DEEP RUN, N.C. — Woodington Middle School's soccer, softball, and baseball teams all completed undefeated seasons with each clinching a championship title.
The Raiders baseball team celebrated a 13-0 victory against Frink, finishing the season 9-2. Reed Davis threw a no-hitter in his final middle school game, pitching 5 innings, walking 5, and striking out 12. This marks the third consecutive undefeated conference championship for the team, which scored 143 runs and allowed only 10 during the season.
The Lady Raiders softball team clinched their conference championship after defeating the Frink Cavaliers. Jade Sasnett dominated the mound with 62 strikeouts in 28 innings, including 2 no-hitters and 3 shutouts. The team scored 164 runs and conceded only 11 throughout the season. Key contributors included Rylan Wade, Jersey Sasnett, Kylee Weston, Lyndsey Philyaw, Sam Holland, and Addison Jones.
The Raiders soccer team achieved an undefeated season and conference championship with a 1-0 victory over Frink, thanks to a decisive goal by Jethro Gonzales.
Both the baseball and softball teams recognized their 8th-grade players, who played their final middle school games and will continue their athletic journeys in high school. The baseball team acknowledged Jaylyn Mills, Greg Cole, Tanner Jones, Kam Rouse, Austin Clements, and Reed Davis, while the softball team celebrated the achievements of their 8th-grade young ladies, wishing them the best as they move on to high school sports.
