NNS Weekly Spring Power Rankings

Baseball

North Lenoir (8-2) - GRADE (A-)

The Hawks have had a good week, defeating South Lenoir easily and shutting out James Kenan. This team is really good on paper and even better on the field.

Greene Central (11-3) - GRADE (A-)

The Rams are HOT. Greene Central has extended their win streak to nine games, the longest in over 20 years. Right now, both pitchers, Braden Burress and Austin Hardy, are filling up the strike zone.

Arendell Parrott (11-4) - GRADE (B)

The Patriots have been playing good baseball, picking up quality wins and dropping a tough one against a very good Wayne Country Day squad. Garrett Byrd has really turned it on at the plate and on the mound.

South Lenoir (6-5) - GRADE (B-)

This team is better than its record suggests. The Blue Devils have lost all five games to top tier winning teams with a combined 52-10 record. South Lenoir has to find ways to battle with the elite teams.

Bethel (7-3) - GRADE (C+)

Since their 13-8 loss to Jones Senoir, BCA has been rolling, winning six of the last seven games. Coach Kenny Sutton has the guys playing with confidence and chemistry.

Jones Sr (3-9) - GRADE (C-)

The Trojans are going through a really bad stretch right now with their eight-game losing streak. Hopefully Jones Senior can turn it around against Farmville Central in their next game.

Kinston (1-9) - GRADE (D+)

Don’t let the grade fool you, the Vikings are getting better. Kinston has scored in every game except one this season. The Vikings picked up their first win of the season over Spring Creek this week.

Softball

North Lenoir (8-2) - GRADE (A)

Great season so far. Coach Bobby Hatcher has the girls playing together and confidently. The Hawks have momentum rolling into the second half of the season with two big games against South Lenoir coming up.

South Lenoir (6-4) - GRADE (B+)

One of the things I love about Coach Harvey is the loaded non-conference schedule she uses to prepare her team for the postseason. However, South Lenoir still has some things to figure out, and I am 100% confident the Blue Devils have the senior leadership to get there.

Jones Senoir (6-4) - GRADE (B-)

Coach Jody Turner has the girls having fun and winning. A good week for the Trojans, winning three and dropping a tough one to a really good North Duplin team.

Bethel (6-2) - GRADE (B-)

The Bethel Trojans are on fire. After starting the season 2-2, the girls have put things together and rolled into a 4-game winning streak. Watch out for these girls…

Arendell Parrott (3-4) - GRADE (C+)

The Patriots have some really good players on this team. I personally think the girls have so much more potential than their record. I can see this team going on a hot streak after working out some kinks.

Kinston (0-10) - GRADE (D-)

The Kinston Vikings are in a rebuilding year and are building experience for next year. The Vikings have five freshmen on the roster.

Greene Central (0-16) - GRADE (D-)

The Rams are also another team in a building year. Greene Central has only one senior and their freshman Jayce Russel leads the Rams in every statistical category besides stolen bases and pitching.
