Trent Taylor Dominates as CSS Cougars Cruise to 10-0 Victory Over Jones County Middle School

TRENTON, NC—The CSS Cougars roared to an impressive victory on Wednesday, led by the outstanding performance of Trent Taylor, who pitched a complete game shutout against Jones County Middle School. The young athlete's mastery on the mound contributed to the Cougars' decisive 10-0 win.

The Cougars wasted no time asserting their dominance, opening the scoring in the first inning when Taylor singled on a 1-2 count, driving in a run. The team continued to capitalize on their momentum, racking up a total of four runs in the first inning and two more in the second, securing an early 6-0 lead.

Jones County Middle School managed a single in the fourth inning, a small glimmer of hope in an otherwise one-sided game.

On the hill, Taylor earned the victory for the CSS Cougars. The right-hander allowed no runs on just two hits across five innings, striking out seven Jones County batters in the process.

The Cougars' offense was relentless, accumulating 12 hits throughout the game. Ashton Clark, Luke Rogers, James Casper, Andrew Hone, and Taylor each recorded multiple hits, with each player contributing two hits to lead the team. Taylor's prowess extended to base running, as he spearheaded the Cougars' eight stolen bases with four of his own.

CSS Cougars showcased their defensive skills as well, committing no errors in the field. Rogers led the team with seven chances, demonstrating the Cougars' commitment to excellence in every aspect of the game.

CSS coach Will Kelly praised his team's performance after the match, stating, "They did all the little things right and did a great job making adjustments during the game as needed. They have worked hard and stuck together during the adversity at the beginning of the season, and I couldn't be more proud of them."
