Thomas Earp Steps Down as South Lenoir Coach for Personal Reasons

DEEP RUN, N.C. – Thomas Earp has resigned as the head basketball coach for South Lenoir High School due to personal matters, as confirmed by Athletic Director Will Harrell. Harrell stated, "Coach Earp has some personal things going on and had to step away." The resignation comes as the Blue Devils are nearing the end of their season, with only two regular season games left.

The team currently holds a 3-17 overall record and is 0-10 in conference play. Earp, who took on the head coaching role in the summer of 2023, will be succeeded by Brandon Battle, serving as the interim head coach. Battle also leads the JV football and basketball teams, with the JV basketball team currently having an 11-2 record and being 3-0 in conference play.

This coaching change occurs as South Lenoir looks to navigate the final stretch of a challenging season.
