South Lenoir Moves Up In Conference Standings With Win
DEEP RUN— In a critical volleyball match that had implications for conference standings, the South Lenoir Lady Blue Devils hosted Southwest Onslow and emerged victorious in three sets. The win puts South Lenoir in a three-way tie for second place in the conference. With the win the Lady Blue Devils move to a 5-4 overall record and 3-1 in conference play.
On the same night, North Lenoir claimed the top spot in the conference by defeating East Duplin.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
South Lenoir's coach Madison Harvey praised her team's performance, particularly the synergy between the passers, setters, and middles. "I think our passers are great, which lets our setters be great, which lets us use our middles, which is exactly what we need to do," Harvey said. "Kylie Smith and Kat Thompson had a great night. The more we utilize them, the better we are going to be."
Strategic Rotation
Harvey also discussed her strategy of rotating players to maximize their strengths and maintain energy levels. "I have a lot of girls that have a ton of assets, and I want to make sure I'm utilizing all these assets," she explained. "I also want to make sure my girls that are constantly jumping and moving are not tiring out. If we go five sets, I need to go five sets. Some of my girls set better to different people, so I try to put players together who I know are more compatible."
Up Next: East Duplin
Coach Madison Harvey announced that the Lady Blue Devils' next match will be an away game against East Duplin next Tuesday. The match promises to be another crucial contest in shaping the conference standings.
