Rams Stay Hot with Their Longest Win Streak in Over 20 years.
SNOW HILL, N.C. – Greene Central Rams (11-3, 8-0) have done it again. They extended their winning streak to nine games after a 5-1 victory against Washington (5-6, 1-5) on Wednesday, marking their longest streak in over two decades.
Rams coach Ben Brann credits their success to hard work and attention to detail during practice. "One thing we preach every day at practice is to work hard and do the little things right," Brann said. "Overall, we have been doing the simple things right and playing Rams baseball."
Greene Central got an early lead in the second inning when Noah Uzzell walked, followed by Cameron Taylor's line drive to left field. Braden Burress moved the runners with a bunt, loading the bases for freshman Will Radford. The young player delivered a stunning triple, driving in all three runners and giving the Rams a commanding lead.
"I just keep my mind clear, thinking about nothing besides hitting the ball," Radford said.
The winning pitcher for Greene Central, Braden Burress, gave an exceptional performance on the mound. Over seven innings, he allowed just one run on two hits, striking out 11 batters and walking only one. Burress was also impressive at the plate, going two for four.
"I was just feeling great," Burress said. "It just makes it really easy to go out there and throw a bunch of strikes, knowing your defense is going to make it easy for ya."
The Rams will pick back up playing in a easter tournament this Saturday in Farmville. Greene Central will match up against Northside-Pinetown (11-2).
