Rams lose to Farmville for first time since 2017
Farmville erupted for 47 unanswered points to trounce Greene Central, 47-7. Jaguars effectively snapping the Rams’ five-game winning streak over them—their first victory against GC since 2017.
While the Farmville offense gather 401 total yards, the Rams offense failed to stand up to the challenge.
Greene Central quarterback Okie Edwards struggled to find his rhythm, completing just 7 of 22 passes for 83 yards and an interception. Edwards also contributed 6 rushes for 2 yards.
On the ground, the Rams found it tough going as well, with running back James Ballard carrying the ball 12 times for just 18 yards, though he did manage to put GC on the scoreboard with a touchdown.
GC’s bright spot was wide receiver Christian Tavarez, who accumulated 44 yards on 4 catches and added 26 rushing yards to his stat line. Kimez Coppedge chipped in with 38 yards on 2 catches.
Greene Central’s offense was stifled, mustering just 48 team rushing yards and 83 passing yards. Adding to their woes, they didn’t find the end zone until there were just 5 minutes left in the contest.
Farmville’s quarterback Landon Barnes was the epitome of efficiency, finishing 3-for-5 for 101 yards and a trio of passing touchdowns. The ground game was just as potent, accumulating an impressive 300 yards on 28 rushes for 4 touchdowns.
The Rams conclude the regular season with a 4-6 record, going 3-3 in conference play. Farmville improves their season record to 7-2, with a 3-2 mark in conference play.
