Rams Edge Spring Creek, Win Streak Hits 4"
0In a nail-biting finish, the Greene Central Rams (4-0) managed to secure their fourth consecutive win, defeating Spring Creek High School in a match that had spectators on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
"It wasn't necessarily the way we wanted to win, but I am happy we got the win. We never quit; our defense up top was strong, as it's been all year. We played as a team, and I am happy with it," said Coach Baird, reflecting on the team's performance.
Josh Osorio, who scored the game-winning goal with just 4:30 minutes left on the clock, was lauded by Coach Baird for his relentless effort.
"He never stops; he had the final blow in the last five minutes. He always keeps going, never quits, and works hard," Baird said. Osorio himself emphasized the importance of teamwork and communication. "We just got to communicate as a team; we treat each other like family. We have to call out errors and celebrate our good plays. I think we can compete with anyone in the conference," he said.
Sebastian Gualito got the Rams on the board first, but Spring Creek managed to tie the game. It was Osorio's last-minute goal that sealed the deal for the Rams. Rams goaltender Tayshon Edwards made a significant contribution with seven saves, while Alex Contreras and Miguel Savala each had an assist.
The Rams are now 2-0 on the road and 2-0 at home this season. Notably, the single goal by Spring Creek was the first the Rams have allowed all season, underscoring their strong defensive play. The Rams are set to face James Kenan this Thursday, weather permitting.
