Patriots handle Wayne Country Day 9-0 in tennis
The Arendell Parrott Academy (APA) Patriots continued their winning ways with a decisive 9-0 victory over Wayne Country Day School (WCDS) on their home court. With this triumph, the Patriots' record for the season now stands at 5-1.
Coach Robert Dawson expressed his pride in the team's performance, singling out Perry Mizelle as the player of the match. The Patriots showcased their strength and skill with impressive results in both singles and doubles matches.
In the singles category, APA's J. Allen Smith defeated WCDS's Jack Geen with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 score. Ted Bratton also demonstrated his prowess against WCDS's Moher Hogarty, finishing with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. The winning streak continued with Wali Omer overcoming Trotter Sumner 6-0, 6-0, and Will Rouse besting Thomas Gurley 6-1, 6-0. Suyesh Lamsal secured another win against Joe Kasbari, with a final score of 6-2, 6-3. Finally, player of the match Perry Mizelle rounded out the singles victories with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Anand Medlery.
In the doubles competition, APA maintained their dominance. The No. 1 duo of J. Allen Smith and Ted Bratton secured an 8-1 win over their WCDS opponents. Wali Omer and Will Rouse, the No. 2 doubles team, emerged victorious with an 8-5 win, while the No. 3 doubles team of Max Beegleman and Perry Mizelle closed out the match with an 8-2 triumph.
