Patriots fall at home to Eagles
The Arendell Parrott Academy Patriots lost to the Fayetteville Academy Eagles 64-21 Friday evening. This was the second consecutive loss in as many nights. The Patriots were coming off a loss to Wayne Christian the night before and Head Coach Clay Harrell knew that tonight's matchup would be a tall task for his team to overcome.
Fayetteville Academy came out of the gates swinging and used its fast-paced offense to get out to an early 22-point lead after the first quarter. The Patriots would not go quietly in the matchup. They were able to keep up with the Eagles fast paced offense but found it difficult to score on their own end.
“We knew of the challenge ahead of us and I am proud of our effort. We didn’t just roll over, I thought we competed the best we could”, Coach Harrell said after the loss.
#14 Connor Woelfel led the Patriots while #23 Oliver LuQurre added 5 points. Five other Patriots scored 2 points each during the loss. While effort is counted on the scoreboard, the Patriots showed that they were a mentally tough team and would not back down from a challenge.
“You're going to have nights like this. This is the best team we will face all year”, Harrell added. The Patriots will rely on their “Family” ties as they look to rebound from this loss. The Patriots will have two games next week. They welcome Pungo Christian Academy on Tuesday and then host Wilson Christian Academy on Thursday. Both games are scheduled to tip at 7:00pm as the Patriots look to get back to their winning ways.
Scoring:
#14 Connor Woelfel: 6 points
#23 Oliver LuQurre: 5 points
#0 Giorgro Parravicini, #2 Thatcher Whaley, #5 Fletcher Jones, #10 William Corey & #11 Chase Jones: 2 points
