Patriots celebrate homecoming with a commanding 76-6 win
The Arrendell Parrott Academy Patriots demonstrated their dominance on the field during their homecoming game against the Father Capodanno Grunts on Friday evening, with a staggering 76-6 victory. The Patriots led 62-0 by halftime, showcasing a formidable offense and a sturdy defense, amassing nearly 600 yards of total offense during the game. Quarterback Caleb Sanderson (#9) showcased his passing prowess by completing 12 of 15 passes for 229 yards and notching five passing touchdowns.
Head Coach Matt Beaman had a clear offensive strategy for the Patriots which was to improve their passing game. The strategy paid off as the team was able to spread the ball effectively through the air. Besides Sanderson, Christopher Stimson (#8) and Chase Davis (#7) also had some playing time at quarterback, contributing to the team’s overwhelming offensive performance. The passing game was further boosted by receivers Ben Barrett (#3) and Jaylen Solomon (#5), who recorded significant yardage and touchdowns.
On the ground, the Patriots were equally dominant. Cooper Coman (#1) made a significant contribution with thirteen carries for 77 yards and a touchdown, along with an 82-yard kickoff return touchdown, totaling 159 all-purpose yards. Other contributors to the scoreline were Jack Sutton (#12) and Tanner Outlaw (#42), who also found the end zone.
With this victory, the Patriots now stand at 4-2 this season. However, their road games seem to be a hurdle, having lost both. As they prepare for a crucial matchup against John Paul II in Greenville next week, the challenges mount. The memories of defeating Catholic Saints twice last year for the Conference Championship and State Championship fuel their preparation. Coach Beaman underscores the importance of being "locked in all week" for the upcoming physical battle, as the stakes get higher with each game.
Looking ahead, the Patriots’ performance in the upcoming game against John Paul II will be a testament to their readiness to defend their titles. The anticipated physicality of next Friday’s game is a call to arms for the Patriots, who aim to continue their winning streak on their home turf, and turn the tide for their away games.
