Parrot Academy falls to Faith Christian 46-22 in regular season finale

In a battle of the Patriots, Arendell Parrott Academy traveled to Rocky Mount to face off against Faith Christian. Due to rough field conditions at Faith Christian's campus, the game was relocated to neighboring Wesleyan College. Parrott suffered a 46-22 loss, dropping their regular-season record to 5-4. This marks their second consecutive defeat as they conclude the regular season and gear up for the playoffs next Friday.

Despite missing leading rusher Jaylen Solomon, Parrott found considerable success on the ground. Junior Cade Mixon (#21) led the charge with 134 rushing yards on 22 carries. Mason Mooring (#54) also made an impact, accumulating 66 yards on seven carries and recording two catches for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Mooring's touchdown pass came courtesy of Caleb Sanderson (#9), who completed 2 of 6 passes for 60 yards. Sanderson shared quarterback duties with Christopher Stimson (#8), who struggled in the passing game, going 2/16 for 16 yards and throwing two interceptions. However, Stimson redeemed himself with two rushing touchdowns, finishing the game with five carries for 19 yards.

Head Coach Matt Beaman acknowledged that his team started strong but lost momentum due to early mistakes. "When we fall into that lull, it's hard to climb out of it. We've got to do a better job," Beaman said. As they prepare for next week's playoffs, likely on the road, Beaman emphasized the need for a strong week of practice and the return of key players.

When asked about the upcoming playoffs, Beaman was straightforward: "We're still the defending State Champions until someone knocks us off. We've got to come out and play our best football."

Despite the tough loss, there's confidence that the multi-State Champion coach will make the necessary adjustments to have his team ready for battle. Whether they play at Hodges Field or on the road, the Patriots will rely on their "Family" ethos and be prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead.
