Leveling the Court: Viking's Kyonna Kelly Hosts Free Girls' Basketball Camp
Rising Kinston High School senior, Kyonna Kelly, is set to host a free girls' basketball camp at Kinston High School, open to all ages. The event is scheduled for August 24 from 12-4 p.m., with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Kelly, known for her diverse and talented play at the guard position, recorded impressive stats during last season, averaging 6.7 points per game, 5.0 rebounds, 2.6 steals, and 2.6 assists.
The camp, to be held at Kinston High School, will offer a comprehensive program that includes working on ball handling, shooting, defense, and king of the court competitions, as well as shell drills and scrimmaging.
Kelly's motivation for organizing the camp stems from a desire to support female basketball players in Kinston. "Girls in Kinston that play basketball don't get as many chances as boys and we get overlooked. I want to be the person that can give girls that opportunity," Kelly said.
This is an incredible opportunity to connect the community with Kinston girl’s basketball. Kelly’s effort to build girl’s basketball is inspiring and admirable. Support this incredible young athlete!
