North Lenoir to Honor Late NBA Player Mitchell Wiggins with Hall of Fame Induction

North Lenoir will honor former NBA player Mitchell Wiggins during halftime of Tuesday night’s boys' basketball game against South Lenoir, inducting him into the NL Hall of Fame. Wiggins, who passed away on September 9, 2024, leaves behind a lasting basketball legacy.

A standout at Florida State University, Wiggins averaged 23 points and nine rebounds before being selected 23rd overall in the 1983 NBA Draft. He played for the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, and Philadelphia 76ers, scoring 3,877 career points. His career extended overseas, with stints in Greece, France, and the Philippines.

Wiggins also represented Team USA in the 1982 FIBA World Championship, earning a silver medal. He is the father of current NBA player Andrew Wiggins.
