NNS Volleyball Playoff Matchups and Predictions
The playoff brackets have been released for the NCHSAA State Volleyball Playoffs. Here's where our ladies have been placed in the bracket matchups:
NCHSAA 2A EAST
#17 Greene Central (13-9) @ #16 Whiteville (11-7)
It should be a challenging game, but I believe that despite the seedings, the Rams have the stronger squad. The Rams have demonstrated their ability to perform well on the road with an 8-6 record. I expect the Rams to come out on top, fueled by outstanding performances from Parker Toole, Donley Phillips, and the rest of the Rams.
#20 South Lenoir (10-9) @ #13 Wallace-Rose Hill (17-4)
The Lady Blue Devils face a tough challenge as they take on Wallace-Rose Hill. South Lenoir has suffered two losses to Wallace earlier this year, but it's worth noting that both of these games were highly competitive. When two good teams face each other, it can be difficult to secure a win for the third time in a year. I predict that South Lenoir will emerge victorious, thanks to strong performances from Kylie Smith and Katherine Thompson at the net.
#30 Clinton (11-12) @ #3 North Lenoir (20-1) 11:00 am Saturday, October 21st.
North Lenoir is poised to take care of business and extend their home win streak. The Hawks haven't lost a home game since September 22nd, 2022. I expect Clinton to provide a tough challenge, but the Hawks should be just fine. Alyssa Hatcher has been on fire, and her teammates are following her lead. The Hawks boast a deep pool of talent, including players like Lakyn Whitley, Kaylee Kennedy, RiCayla Warren, and many more.
NCISAA 3A Volleyball
Cary Christian School (12-13) @ #7 Arendell Parrott Academy (12-4)
APA is coming off a first round bye, and Cary Christian defeated Forsyth Country Day in the first round 3-1. I think APA is too strong for Cary Christian. APA is a REALLY good team in a loaded conference. Watch out for the Lady Patriots to make a nice run into the playoffs behind Jordyn Chinigo and Caroline Franklin.
