NNS MVP RACE
Football is finally over, and now it’s on to the post-season awards. To kick it off, we are running the MVP fan vote again for the second year in a row. The three best candidates were selected amongst our staff, and now we are going to leave it up to you to decide who is the MVP in our community's eyes. (10% of the MVP decision)
How it works:
There will be two social media posts to vote on: this MVP article and an MVP poster image with all three candidates. On the post, you can vote by typing in the player's name in the comments, and you can vote by sharing the player's name. The overall ending vote will count towards 10% of the MVP decision and could be the ultimate deciding factor if there is a tie in the voting. The MVP show will air this Saturday.
Candidates:
North Lenoir Running Back
Malik Fuller, Jr., 6’1 190 - 192 rushes, 1609 yards 8.4 yards per carry, 15 TDs
Fuller has been a dog all season for the Hawks. The Hawks’ running back rushed for over 160 yards in 7 out of the 10 games this season and also scored at least one touchdown in every game but two. His best game this season was against East Carteret, when he had eight rushes for 291 yards and one touchdown. I speak with confidence by saying he is the best running back in the area.
Kinston Wide Receiver
Tyreek Copper SO. 6’2 175 - 60 catches 918 yards, 13 TDs
This young man can flat-out play ball! His route running, mixed with his speed, athleticism, and skill, only makes this kid unguardable. Copper lines up at any WR position in the spread offense and CAN NOT BE GUARDED one-on-one. We watched this kid make big-time plays this year for Kinston. Copper's best game this season was against Wallace Rose-Hill, when he caught 11 passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns. Copper has had four 100-yard receiving games, has caught a touchdown in 7 out of 11 games, and has had two games with three touchdowns. Tyreek is special.
Kinston Quarterback
Qurron Ross, SR, 5'9, 170 - 197-331, 2406 yards, 27 TDs, 13 INTs
Man, this kid can throw it! Ross is a pocket passer who delivers a great ball. He is accurate on all three levels in the passing game and rarely throws a pass that is not on money. Ross was huge for the Vikings this season, throwing for an average of 218 yards per game, including two games where he threw for over 300 yards. His best game this season was against North Lenoir, when he threw for six touchdowns in the FIRST HALF, Ross finished the game 26-35 365 yards and seven touchdowns. No doubt Ross is the QB1 of the area.
