Landon Tyndall and the Blue Devils overpower Wallace-Rose Hill
DEEP RUN - The South Lenoir Blue Devils' Landon Tyndall got the start on Friday night and dominated in an 11-1 victory over the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs. A six-run second inning highlighted the Blue Devils' offensive prowess.
"The guys played together tonight," said South Lenoir's head coach, Davis Combs. "The hits were contagious, and we situationally hit. The guys came to play."
On the mound, Landon Tyndall delivered an impressive showing, throwing a one-hitter over five innings.
"Landon threw extremely well. He pounded the strike zone and executed pitches when he needed to. He kept the baseball down. Very proud of him," said Combs.
The Blue Devils' offense exploded in the second inning, with Adam McDonald, Jake Howard, Braden Barnett, and Lucas West all contributing RBIs. Braxton Byrd also played a key role, opening up the scoring in the first inning with a single on a 1-1 count, bringing in one run.
The two teams were separated by a six-run second inning by the Blue Devils. Howard and Barnett walked, West hit a single, and an error let McDonald score.
South Lenoir's offense got a total of seven hits, with both West and Byrd getting more than one. West led the team in hits, going 3-4 at the plate.
South Lenoir is now 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference. The Blue Devils will play at James Kenan next Tuesday.
