Lancers hosted three game series with Bryant & Stratton over the weekend
Over the weekend, the Lenoir Community College Lancers faced off against the Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats in a three-game baseball series. The Lancers now hold a 15-10 overall record and an 8-5 conference standing after going 1-2 against the Bobcats.
In the first game at Lancer Field, Logan Brown blasted two home runs, contributing two runs, two hits, and four RBIs. Cam Greenway added three hits, two runs, and one RBI, while Kayden Crawford provided one run, two hits, and three RBIs. Tyler Thompson won the game with a great pitching performance. He went seven innings, gave up only two runs, and struck out nine batters.The Lancers emerged victorious with a 10-2 final score.
Game two saw the Bobcats bounce back, taking an early 5-1 lead by the third inning and extending it to 7-2 in the fourth. The Lancers tried to catch up, and Brighton Berthrong's home run in the sixth inning made it 7-6.Cam Greenway, Logan Merritt, Tanner Cannon, and Kayden Crawford each contributed two hits, but it wasn't enough as Grey Gurganious suffered the loss on the mound. The Lancers fell short, losing 6-7.
The Lancers lost the last game of the series, which was frustrating because they again had trouble getting runners home.Will Orr hit a double to lead the offense, Kayden Crawford drove in a run, and Braxton Davis made a SAC. Tanner Cannon stole three bases, while Kevin Jones and Logan Merritt each stole one.Pitchers Cullen Tucker and Thomas Hill shared mound duties, with Tucker tossing 7.1 innings, allowing eight hits, four runs, and striking out two. Hill pitched 1.2 innings, walking two and fanning four. The Lancers suffered another loss in the series.
The Lancers will return to action on Wednesday, hosting William Peace University JV at home, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
