Lady Rams fight back but fall short to Pam Pack in 5 sets

The gym at Greene Central was filled with fans as they watched the Lady Rams take on the Pam Pack from Washington. The Lady Rams dropped the first two sets but dug their heels into the ground to win the next two sets and force a fifth and deciding set.

The Pam Pack won the first two sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-21. The Rams bounced back with set wins of 25-23 and 25-23. The fifth and final set was won by the Pam Pack 16-14. This is the third loss for the Lady Rams, whose record is now 6-3.

Coach Emily Lahr praised her team for their effort despite the loss. "They have a lot of fire.... It's hard when it takes two sets to find it, but the girls have it and when it lights up, it lights up big."

Senior #7 Laci Baker led the team with 17 service points and 7 aces while also recording one kill. The sister tandem of #10 Parker Toole and #14 Rylee Toole were strong at the net, accounting for 16 total kills. The younger of the Toole sisters, Rylee, recorded a booming kill late in the fourth set that put the Lady Rams up 21-18 and helped push the game to the fifth set. Olivia Corbin, #15, also led the team with 33 digs in the contest.

The team will look to learn from this close loss, as Coach Lahr explained. "You learn way more from losses than you do from wins." The Rams can take this loss and build off it as they will be hungry for a bounce-back win next Tuesday when they travel to face West Craven in another conference matchup.
