Kinston football star Antwon Giggetts commits to Elizabeth City State University
Kinston High School football star Antwon Giggetts committed today to play for Elizabeth City State University. Giggetts ran the ball 150 times for 1278 yards and 12 Touchdowns this year for the Vikings in 10 games. Kinston football coach Ryan Gieselman thinks ECSU is getting a gem.
"Dynamic player in the backfield. Legs never stop churning. Has some wiggle but can beat you with power and speed. A great pass-catching threat as well." Gieselman said.
This is a step to the next level for the Kinston running back. After years of hard work and commitment to the game, Giggetts finally gets to see his name on a college football team.
"It feels great," Giggetts said. "I feel like all the hard work has paid off. On to the next chapter."
Giggetts has been surrounded by role models his whole sports career. He tips his hat to the leaders that helped him get his talents to the next level.
"Coach Josh Dawson, Michael Smalls, and all of my coaches at Kinston High School," Giggetts said, all of these guys helped me get to the next level.
Giggetts has made his mark for the Kinston Vikings and put in the work year after year. Coach Gieselman will miss the senior running back.
"It was a pleasure to watch Antwon to develop from his freshman year as an unsure football player to the beast he became his senior season. Finishing strong like he has started in the winter of 21 into the spring of 22 grinding in the weight room. We saw the flashes at the end of his junior year, and they carried on into this past football season. Proud of the young man and student-athlete he’s become."
