JV Patriots Fall 40-8 to Streaking Cary Christian
The Arendell Parrott Academy JV Patriots took on the Knights of Cary Christian on Thursday night at Hodges Field. The Patriots lost to the Knights 40-8. The Patriots did not get off to a good start against a Knights team that extended their win streak to 28 straight games.
The Knight’s last loss came in the 2019-2020 season. JV Head Coach Clay Harrell acknowledged that this Knight’s group would be a difficult matchup for his team.
“We knew that this was going to be the best team that we played all year”, Harrell said. After the scheduled four quarters were over, both teams were able to play a special “5th quarter”.
This 5th quarter was an untimed quarter where both teams played 15 offensive plays each. This allowed both teams to get playing time for players who don’t always get to see action week to week. During the extra scrimmaging, Harrell and his coaching staff were able to evaluate a lot of younger Patriots.
“It’s the one of the most important things we do all year, it gets a chance for us to look at guys.... It helps the development of us going forward”, Harrell said when asked about the 5 th quarter.
The Patriots will look to bounce back with a familiar foe, John Paul II next week.
“It’s a rivalry game, they run the same stuff as the varsity. They will line right up and run right at us, we must be more tough and physical, but if we can do that, I think we’ve got a shot”, Harrell said.
